ANGELIKA’S NOTE

A deeply human – and canine – tale, Mike White’s (BRAD’S STATUS, MAMMA DALLAS, THE WHITE LOTUS) YEAR OF THE DOG is a deeply touching and existentially hilarious film. Starring Molly Shannon (SUPERSTAR, NEVER BEEN KISSED, OTHER PEOPLE) as a secretary whose dog passes away unexpectedly, and she is left to attempt to fill the canine-sized void in her life. Variety raves, "Molly Shannon's bittersweet portrayal of its lonely canine-loving heroine, along with a passel of pups trying to steal the picture, make for a satisfyingand funny, if ironic, comedy intended for lovers of both the beast and/or sophisticated laughs."

SYNOPSIS

After her beloved beagle dies unexpectedly, an office worker named Peggy (Molly Shannon) looks for ways to fill the void in her life. Bringing in treats for her co-workers and fussing over other people’s children fails to work, and when an ill-advised love affair with a gun fanatic (John C. Reilly) dies on the vine, she “goes to the dogs” in more ways than one.
